Community groups and schools are working throughout November with artists Julie Willoughby and Ruth Pigott to make a spectacular lit lantern parade for Illuminate which will include stars, fish, pilgrim puppets and the Mayflower ship. The groups will parade the lanterns in two spectacular processions, with everyone meeting in Market Square. Once there they will sing a beautiful song composed by groups in Boston with Jo Freya. Rhubarb Theatre will also be performing Mayflower, a modern telling of the epic journey of the Mayflower Pilgrim Fathers.
Help us Illuminate Boston and be part of the lit willow lantern parade.
Come and join us and make your own lantern at Fishtoft Playing Fields Pavillion on Wednesday 28 October from 2pm to 8pm. Please allow at least 3 hours and wear old clothes. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Free! All materials provided.
Then on Thursday 26 November, join us at the start of Boston’s Mayflower 400 journey for Illuminate, the first of a series of events leading up to the international celebration of the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower in 2020. It’s going to be a dazzling evening!
